The Associated Press reports that Polamalu's injury was diagnosed as injured medial collateral ligament (MCL) the type of condition that can keep professional players off the field for between three and six months. The defensive star was playing well until the point of injury, making six tackles before being hammered with a stunning one-handed intercept at the beginning of the second half. Despite losing Polamalu Pittsburgh was able to win this game after overtime, scoring an extra point during the first play in the overtime frame, resulting in an impressive 13-10 win.
